Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that uses natural elements (movement, light, water, electricity etc) and aims in the development, maintenance and restoration of movement and functionality in order to achieve improvement of the patient’s quality of life. Physiotherapy is a licensed health profession and implemented solely by certified practitioners. A physiotherapist has excellent knowledge over anatomy, physiology, movement and the biomechanics of the human body. He/ she can assess the cause of pain or movement dysfunction and initiate therapeutic intervention to treat a wide range of symptoms.
PAMEMMAZI is offering free bi-weekly physiotherapy sessions in collaboration with Therapy Lab to patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system. Some of the symptoms are a weighted sensation in the legs or/ and hands, fatigue and weakness, pain and reduced mobility. There is no treatment for the particular disease but physiotherapy in addition to drug-based immunomodulatory treatment may bring promising results. According to research (Balance and gait improved in patients with MS after physiotherapy based on the Bobath concept; Smedal et all, 2006), physiotherapy can improve the patient’s physical condition, strengthen and increase the musculoskeletal’s elasticity etc
